World History:

We, of Caducus Primary, recognize the value of all things no matter their fragile nature.

Overview:

From a distance, Caducus Primary doesn't look much different than any other planet in the universes. The weather is extremely stable, and the vegetation is neat, almost pristine. Small rows of severely cut hedges line shimmering buildings, the petals of flowers brittle and sharp to the touch. What stands out about Caducus Primary, however, is the fact that there are hundreds of very tall buildings packed together in many, if not all, of the cities. They are elevated above the ground on what appears to be stilts and sway almost gracefully in the gentle breeze that is always present. Their stability never wavers and while it's startling to see such large buildings move the way they do, they never fall.

The streets are edged with beautiful sculptures that are placed wherever light is needed. During the day they gently reflect the sun's light, and at night they glow from within. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and each piece is unique. This planet's natives all live comfortably, and the abundance of their natural resources reflect in everything around them. The world, from the ground to the paint on walls and clothing to trees, glitters just as glass would in the sunlight.

Technology:

Caducus Primary had been outfitted with the Ingress technology, insuring that the planet had many travelers and visitors. Technology advanced with time, and the natives use their natural resources to build vehicles, ships, and more. Caducus Primary was advanced enough to have all creature comforts (water, electricity), and was on the verge of a breakthrough in transforming one of the planet's crystalline liquids into clean energy before the Ingress split the planet apart.

Government:

Sticklers for the rules, but not unkind to those that break them. Caducus Primary natives are known for their generosity and compassion, but are strong willed and firm when it comes to what they believe is right and wrong. They have prisons, though they were seldom used, and have a working government meant to keep everyone on the right path.

They'd discovered the perfect combination necessary to keep everything in order, to keep their citizens happy, and to keep the balance in check.

Communication and trade with Caducus Secondary and Caducus Tertiary has always been smooth; the relationships between all three planets are like any situation with large, powerful entities coming together. It was rocky at first, with three main battles between them, and then an agreement was met that has given the planet's peace for well over six hundred years.

The Natives:

- Darker skin tones, though that varies as visitors sometimes become permanent, but their hair styles and colors are all as unique as they can make them. This is due to influence from other travelers.
- The style of dress is also similarly effected. There seems to be no set pattern or style of clothing, some ranging from basic outerwear and others more ornate.
- They are friendly, welcoming, and encourage visiting crews to trade with them for what they need.
- There are no visible "poor" areas, as everyone works together to ensure that all Caducus Primarians have what they need.
- They are calm and organized. If lost or in need of directions, they will offer to take you where you are going.
- Very strict when it comes to the rules. Break the rules, and they'll ask you to make amends, and barring that, ask you to leave.

Business:

There are many things to do on the planet. In the city proper, stepping into one of the multiple shops would reveal workers crafting glass figurines, jewelry, cups, and other items to your specifications. Trade is the same as on almost all other planets—there is no one accepted monetary unit, so what you'd need, you'd have to trade for. Caducus Primary does not promote war or violence, so any unsavory cargo (such as weapons, explosives, alcohol, and drugs) would not have been found anywhere in the vicinity of the populated regions.

Beyond:

At night, if you catch your reflection in a surface that isn't quite as transparent (on a sculpture, the side of a building, anything made of glass), there will be a momentary glimpse of your past or future self. A blink, and then, it will be gone.

The beyond is a well-known facet of Caducus Primarian, but it is little discussed. It just is. The natives have embraced the fact that some are born with the ability to see more than what is universally typical, and some are born with the ability to instill that ability into the glass that they shape and mold into something new. There are those that can do both, and those that can do neither. And every varying degree between.

The people maintain a belief that it is a gift not to be questioned or explored, and thus, research into the origin of these abilities never occurred.

They keep the balance of the universes by sharing their gifts, but never for personal gain. They give back, but do not take.

Personal History:

Farin was born to her mother in the early evening hours. Her father had been a visitor, and much to her mother's discomfort, had chosen to continue on with his crew instead of staying behind. Her mother didn't mourn his loss for herself, there was no love between them, but mourned the loss of her daughter having the opportunity to know him. Her mother raises her in a strong and stable environment, teaching her through kindness and a never ending supply of love, how to become whoever the universes needed her to be.

She was a calm child, collected, but every so often, when the wind would shift too suddenly, her resolve would crack and her mother could see something else underneath the surface. Her mother attempted to embrace this. She encouraged her to seek many hobbies, and multiple subjects in school, and when Farin was old enough to seek employment, she allowed her daughter to continue to live with her until she found a career that suited her best.

They beyond was only present when she was upset. This wasn't unusual for Caducus Primarians, but it wasn't a typical way for it to manifest. Her strange showing made it difficult to handle at first, but her mother made sure she was always supported. If overly angry, sad, happy, or any emotion that was sudden and unprepared for hit her, Farin's resolve would crack, like her skin, and the beyond would shine through. She learned to manage it, and she manages it very well.

She never did. So Farin chose the next best thing. She took over her mother's business when she was no longer steady enough to run it on her own. Farin found it soothing, working in the over-warm shop, taking the hot glass and turning into something else with a few puffs of air through a tube. It was peaceful, relaxing, and almost enough to keep her steady.

But each time a new visitor would come into the shop. Each time an intricately designed glass ship would leave with a traveler, she'd wish it were her going instead. Farin wasn't inherently lonely, she just felt that there was more to herself, and that the balance of her life wasn't right yet. She wanted to contribute to the universes, but she wasn't sure how to do that. She always thought of going, packing her things and seeking employment on a ship, but she could never leave her mother.

The visitors never drew much notice, other than in a general sense, and when the representative addresses the Moira, Farin pays no attention to it. It isn't the first time they've dealt with people like this, and it isn't her direct responsibility to do anything about it.

"I am the keeper of fragile things, and I destroy what is mine."

The glass begins to break.

When the glass shatters, Farin, like so many others, scrambles to collect their things, and follow friends and family to the safe zones. Her bag is light, her hand gripping her mother's tightly as the glass falls all around them. She doesn't have time to mourn the loss of what her people spent years building, she has to get her mother to safety. The representative issues a planet wide evacuation, stating that the safe zones are no longer a viable option, and she goes. She's all at once thrilled with the chance to leave, devastated, and afraid of what's going to happen.

During the hustle and bustle of evacuation, she loses her mother. It's a loss that she feels so immediately, heavily, that Farin isn't sure how she manages to get herself to safety. The glass that her mother had loved so much had taken her from Farin.

She sits.

And sits. Watching the world crumble around her. Strong hands pull her away, tired eyes lead her to a ship. She recognizes it, vaguely, as the same ship that the representative had asked to leave. She stands on the aft of the Moira and watches.

Just watches. As her home splinters and breaks apart, and when the same tired eyed man tells her that her people have sent a transporter for any of the survivors on the Moira, she pushes his hands away. She signs a work contract less than an hour later.

Personality:
Calm. Collected. Cracked and fragmented.

There are many words that can be used to describe Farin, but it's a combination of words that fits her best. She's generally calm and balanced, and holds no ill-will towards other people. She manages the beyond well, and can handle what she's seen and isn't afraid to see. Like glass she is strong, bright, and reflective, but like glass, the right amount of pressure, in the right places, can crack her.

The universes are delicate beings that all people play a part in. There are no extra pieces, there are no people that don't have a place, everyone just is how they were meant to be. She knows people can change, she can change, but she believes that everyone is how they're supposed to be. As they were meant to be.

Herself included. She isn't afraid to change or grow, and she's settled but doesn't want to be. Farin yearns for more. Adventure and experience. She would have never sought it for herself if she hadn't lost her mother, because she's attached to the people she cares about and puts their needs before her own.

After losing her mother, she finds herself on a ship full of the people that most would consider responsible for the destruction of her planet. She doesn't see it that way. It's part of the balance, and she knows that such a devastating event will upend the balance and an upsurge of good will flow. Maybe not now, but eventually and she clings to that notion.

The belief that everything will find balance eventually can cloud her judgement. She wholeheartedly believes that right and wrong or good and evil will all level out in time. She puts her faith in that because it was how she was raised. She's adventurous, kind, compassionate, but something's not quite right.

Deep down she wonders what her father was like, though she doesn't seek answers. The things she sees in the beyond don't bother her, but they leave their mark. The glass gets scratched, marred, chipped off, and the pieces get shoved back together again, but they never get put back quite right. She's slightly misaligned.

Abilities/Skills:
The Beyond

When she chooses to, or if her emotions are compromised, Farin can access the beyond. She cannot choose what she sees, how much she sees, or whether it is the past or present or future. Almost always her abilities show her glimpses of the past. Her skin turns blue and glassy, and during particularly strong instances, her skin cracks. If touching the other person, she can share what she's seen or she can transfer the vision to something made of glass.

There will be a permissions post for this.

SAMPLES

Network Sample:
Crew of the Moira.

I am Farin of Caducus Primary and am now part of your crew. I hold no ill-will towards anyone involved, and only wish to accompany you on your travels. My new position of redacted is most exciting and I am pleased with my new living quarters.

I would like a tour of the ship, if that is possible. If anyone is available to do so, please don't hesitate to contact me via these MID devices that we've all been given.

Fragile and unbroken, I bid you good day.

Prose/Action Sample:
It was dark, late, and she couldn't breathe. Everything had happened so suddenly, abruptly even, and she couldn't catch up to what she was seeing. Her eyes had glassed over, skin cracking across her cheeks, the backs of her hands, as her skin turns an unusual shade of blue.

Her skin is almost reflective, shimmering in the low light of one of the Moira's laundry rooms. Washing her clothes had reminded her of her mother, and she'd become overwhelmed with emotion. She missed her so much. Her sweet smile and guiding hand, and even though she'd craved adventure so much, she was afraid to take the next step. She had no one to fall back on anymore, no one to tell her how to fix what she's broken, and for the first time in a long time, she's truly afraid.

Unbalanced, and through the cracks in her resolve, the beyond slips in. Flashes of pain that's not hers, someone else's on the ship she assumes, but she can't be sure. Everything moves too fast and within minutes her eyes are completely black, skin cracked but un-bleeding. The air around her shifts, the ground tilting up and slamming into her back. She's unconscious.
